Costa Rica Update 2

Well...how about I just love Costa Rican children!!! We've been able to work at several different locations with the children and a lot of times their parents. Our plan was to go into the schools, but when we got here we found out that the schools are closed due to Swine Flu (I wasn't going to mention that because I didn't want my parents to freak out, but they already found out)! So, instead we've been meeting at churches that are in the different neighborhoods or just in the street under a tree. Last night we actually met in an abandoned bar! According to Alfredo, our van driver, we've had more children come this way. They all go get their friends and neighbors and bring them back. We've also had a lot of small children that wouldn't be in the schools and lots of parents as well. All of the children are so precious...and I've only had to bust out my teacher voice a couple of times!
This morning we went to the bus station and passed out tracts and salvation bracelets with the plan of salvation. The people are very kind and they will take just about anything from you. They have so little here. We give the kids a goody bag at each of the places we've been to and they absolutely love it! We've also had the adults participating in the craft, it's really incredible. Tonight we are serving a meal to the people in the church that we've partnered with down here. I thought we were going to be cooking it too and that was going to be interesting, but we aren't cooking, just serving! Tomorrow we leave Neily and are headed back towards the airport. The good news is that we get to break up the long drive back. We are stopping at Manuel Antonio, which is a park and beach, and more of a tourist location. Then we will drive a little further and spend the night at a hotel. Then Saturday morning we will only have an hour or two more to the airport.
Thanks so much for your prayers...keep them coming! I'll be posting lots of a pictures when I get home!
